The Department of Health works with a wide range of service providers, whose work is undertaken to benefit South Australians. Some of these service providers are part of the Department itself, such as the health units, while others are non-government organisations and agencies, partly funded by us.
The health units of the Department of Health are many and varied, ranging from large agencies - such as the Royal Adelaide Hospital with over 1000 beds at three facilities - to smaller, but no less important units - such as the Kangaroo Island Health Service, which provides inpatient and community-based care for all the residents of its region.
There are nearly 80 health units operating within the Department of Health; contact information, telephone numbers and other details can be found on the Human Services Finder . Many of the non-government service providers, such as the AIDS Council of SA, Asthma SA, Cystic Fibrosis South Australia, Mental Health Resource Centre, and SHine SA, to mention only a few, also can be found through the Finder.
