Information Kit ~ Charities and Community Groups |
Charities and community groups that sell food or provide food as part of a service that is paid for are a food business for the purpose of the Food Act 2001 and are required to comply with the requirements of Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. The Code allows a number of exemptions to the standards for charities and community groups. To assist these organisations understand how the food legislation applies to their organisation a Food Safety Information Kit for charities and community groups has been prepared. The kit includes information prepared by the Department of Health and Food Standard Australia New Zealand (FSANZ). KIT CONTENTS
Printed copies of the charities and community groups kit can be obtained from your local council or the Food Policy & Programs Branch. Further advice on the Food Safety Standards should be directed to the Environmental Health Officer in the Council in which your group is located. The Local Government Association website will help you to locate the Council for a particular town or suburb. A Food Safety Information kit for other types of food businesses (retailers, food services and manufacturers) can be found on our Food Safety Information Kit ~ Retailers, Food Services and Manufacturers page. |
