The Mental Health Bill 2009 was passed by State Parliament on Wednesday, 3 June 2009 and was assented to by the Governor in Executive Council on Thursday, 11 June 2009. SA Health will now take lead responsibility for comprehensively planning for the successful implementation of the new Mental Health Act 2009.
Sponsored by Portfolio Executive, the primary objective of the Mental Health Act Implementation Project is to establish all of the critical legislative, governance and administrative arrangements prior to proclamation of the Mental Health Act in 2010.
