School Based Immunisation Program

The National Health and Medical Research Council recommends:

  • funded varicella vaccine for children aged 10-<14 years of age,

  • funded Hepatitis B vaccine for adolescents aged 10-15 years of age,

  • funded human papillomavirus vaccine for females aged between 10-13 years of age

  • funded adult/adolescent diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis vaccine for adolescents aged 12-17 years of age.

In South Australia, the School Based Immunisation Program offers funded:

  • hepatitis B and varicella vaccines to all students in Year 8

  • human papillomavirus vaccine to all FEMALE students
    in Year 8

  • Adult/Adolescent diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis vaccine to all students in Year 9
