Health In All Policies Conference Presentations

Conference - November 2007

During her first visit to Adelaide in March 2007 Thinker in Residence Professor Ilona Kickbusch recommended the convening of a cross-government “Health in All Policies” (HIAP) Conference. The Department of Health and the Department of Premier and Cabinet supported this recommendation, and on 21 November 2007, the Health in All Policies Conference was held at the Stamford Plaza Adelaide.

The Conference program focussed on increasing understanding of the key interactions and synergies between health, the economy and the achievement of South Australia’s Strategic Plan (SASP) targets. It built on the SASP health lens analysis and case study work conducted by the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the Department of Health (further information on this can be found in the below links). The HIAP conference provided an opportunity for government agencies to consider how best to incorporate HIAP as part of the ongoing policy development process.

The conference was followed by a workshop on 22 November 2007 of senior government staff which looked at identifying mechanisms to progress the Health in All Policies Conference outcomes for across government actions and, how to continue to support Health in All Policies in all policies and joined up policy making initiatives across government.

Forum - February 2008

Building on the momentum created by Professor Ilona Kickbusch and the Health in All Policies Conference a follow-up forum was held focussing on South Australia’s policy learning experience in applying Health in All Policies.
