Code for the Case Management of Behaviours that Present a Risk for HIV Transmission
This Code is for the management of persons with HIV whose behaviour places others at risk of infection. Case management is according to levels ranging from notification, assessment and support to the coercive measures of the Public and Environmental Health Act 1987 and includes a provision for medical practitioners’ mandatory notification of intentional HIV risk behaviour.
This Code is for persons (including case workers, social workers, psychologists, counsellors, medical practitioners and other clinicians) who work with persons infected with HIV in a clinical, counselling or community setting and for relevant staff in communicable disease control within SA Health.
