Start Right - Eat Right Training

Why participate in Start Right - Eat Right (SRER) Training?

  • By participating in SRER training, you will join over 230 South Australian child care centres who have already participated in training since 2003.

  • To be eligible for the SRER award, attendance at training by Directors and Cooks is required. Centres where food is brought from home are also eligible for the award.

Who can participate?

SRER Training is open to any child care centre in South Australia that:

  • wishes to obtain the SRER award;

  • has staff who are interested in gaining more knowledge in children’s food, nutrition and promoting healthy eating; or

  • has staff who previously attended training but would like to take a refresher so they can complete the assignments required for the award.

What does SRER Training involve?

  • The accredited course runs for approximately nine hours, and is usually split over three half days or one and a half days.

  • Morning tea and lunch are provided on a full day of training.

  • Each centre receives a “SRER Resource Kit for Child Care Centres” which includes comprehensive child care nutrition course notes, resources for menu assessment and nutrition policy, a CD resource of nutrition pamphlets suitable for staff and families, and food hygiene information.

How much does SRER Training cost?

The SRER training course costs $70 per person. The Director and Cook must attend the training course for the centre to qualify for the award.
